What should you keep in mind when washing your delicate clothes?
First of all, try to keep your dirty laundry in order.
By this I mean that the sorting of dirty clothes should be conscious. It wouldn’t be right to put jeans, work or workout clothes with casual clothes that you’ve only worn for a couple of hours.
This is the first step in caring for delicate clothing such as silk blouses, workout clothes or sensitive fabrics. Identify which garments you can reuse without washing them completely. This way you take care of them and save resources.
Remember that sorting your clothes will give you an overview of where to start: usually by color, whites and items such as jeans that are more rigid fabrics. This time you can also sort by delicates and regular clothes and then separate by color.
Once this is done, we concentrate on delicate clothes.
It is generally recommended to wash with cold water. It is usually convenient to wash delicate fabrics such as cashmere or silk at less than 30 degrees to better preserve its shape.
If you are going to use the washing machine, try to use a delicate cycle. Most washing machines come with it. Otherwise, use a short cycle and avoid spinning.
It is best to use a neutral liquid detergent. Use it with caution because if you add too much, the clothes may be left with traces of soap and cause the fabric to deteriorate.
Dryers can be the enemy of any delicate fabric, so avoid them as much as possible.
Drying clothes properly is also an important step in keeping their shape.
Drain the garments a little after a short cycle wash (15 minutes approx.) and place them on a flat place, on a towel and in the shade. In this way, the garment will dry evenly.
You can also hang the garment on a hanger if it is a light blouse or shirt. Any other way of drying could deform your garment.
Mantain delicate clothes in an airy place where they’ll stay fresh as possible until next time. And finally, avoid using an iron. Delicate fabrics can be deformed by high temperatures.
With these simple tips you can be sure that your delicate clothes will stay in good condition and look as if they were just bought.
