How to clean white Converse?

Who doesn’t have a pair of white Converse in their closet? They sure are stylish, comfortable and white, at least at first. Converse are the kind of shoes that go with any type of outfit. For a walk, a casual look, semi-formal or even formal for the more daring, but when they lose their essence, that white color that characterizes them so much, then we stop wearing them. They are no longer what they used to be.

If you want to clean them NOW, Swet Athletix has the solution, with wear fresh you will leave them as the first day.

What products will you need to clean your Converse?

The first thing you will need to know is that you need to be patient. Cleaning white converse is not as easy as it might be with wear fresh. You will have to be patient to make them look like the first day. The materials you will need can be found in stores and groseries. Check at home before, maybe you already have it and you don’t remember it.

The products or materials you will need are:

  • Toothbrush that you no longer use.
  • Baking soda
  • Detergent (the kind you normally use on your clothes)
  • Toothpaste
  • Absorbent kitchen towel

Steps to follow to clean your Converse

We recommend that you follow the steps without skipping any of these. This will ensure a more effective and satisfactory result. You can use this method for any type of shoe made of canvas. If you have any questions, you can leave them in the comments or contact us here

1. Start by removing shoelaces

Remove the laces from the shoes so that you are free to clean the inside of the shoe, the tongue and also clean the laces well as they usually have very marked stains where the folds go in the holes of the shoes.

2. Use liquid or powder detergent

Dampen the shoes in a bowl of water, add a little detergent and, using a clothes brush, scrub the shoes. This step removes the most superficial dirt to be able to see which are the most difficult stains. Let stand for a few minutes.

3. Prepare the key ingredient of the process: baking soda

Mix some baking soda with water in a bowl until a pasty consistency is obtained. To obtain this consistency, the amount of water and baking soda should be equal.

4. Time to scrub

Take the shoes out of the water and wring them out. Use the toothbrush to spread the baking soda paste first on the stains that you find most difficult to remove. Rub vigorously in those areas and then spread it over the rest of the shoe.

Next, evenly rub some toothpaste on the rubber part of the shoe: the toe cap, heel and sole.

5. Drain and dry

Rinse the shoes with plenty of water, wring them out and place paper towels inside the shoes to keep their shape and dry them well inside.

Place the shoes and laces in the sun. Make sure there are no soap residues or any stains that have not been removed since exposure to the sun can turn the shoes yellowish.

Wait until they are completely dry and you’re done.

Enjoy your Converse totally white and as good as new.
